Noah
Barton, a new pastor in town, has drawn the attention of the young women
of Trumble, including the beautiful shop keepers'\ daughter, Emily
Walsh. However, she is embarrassed by their initial\ meeting-in the
woods on a warm early spring day-and fights her feelings, even as he
subtly pursues her. She feels his attentions lie with the younger,
livelier Mandy Portnoy. She allows another man to visit her parlor,
while all along, she yearns for the attention of the minister.
Meanwhile, Noah's visits to the store leave her questioning his
intentions, even as he visits Mandy's ill mother. Mandy is more than
eager to tell Emily about his interest in the younger woman.
But her
desires are put on hold when a family secret is revealed-one that will
forever change her life. How could she expect a minister to fall in love
with her when she hides such a secret inside her heart? Other problems
with her father and the arrival of her brother and his family could put
her out of her own home. And then she hears that Mandy is to be married,
and Emily is sure it's to Noah. But how can she ignore her desires when
she realizes he's the man who has drifted through her dreams?
