As a writer
and a reader, I have always felt the importance of sharing stories.
Everyone has a story. Our story shapes our lives and makes us who we
are. It is through the sharing of our stories, that we realize we are
not alone. It is through our stories that we pass on to our children our
history. It is my hope that they learn from our mistakes and their
stories are happier because of it. When we do marry, we interact in the
only way we know. As a couple, we relate the way we saw our parents
relating. For the most part, we parent the way our mom and dad parented.
It is a circle that is extremely hard to break, as any marriage
counselor can tell you. I grew up believing in love. I grew up reading
fairy tales, and on some level, I still believe in them. I remember as a
child I thought everyone had that one perfect person out there waiting.
All you had to do was find them and live happily ever after. Who doesn’t
want to live happily ever after?
