In 1891, Serene
Partain arrives—under false pretenses—at Joseph Brunswold’s ranch in the
Jemez Mountains in northern New Mexico. While furtively seeking an
ancient map to the legendary Cities of Gold, Serene unexpectedly falls
in love with the ranch and its shepherd king. But can Joseph ever
